Wrestlemania XXX: This Is It

Wrestlemania XXVIII
Date: April 6, 2014
Location: Mercedes-Benz Super Dome, New Orleans, Louisiana
Commentators: John Bradshaw Layfield, Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler

It’s finally here. After months of waiting, we’ve finally arrived at the biggest night of the year. This is Wrestlemania, where everything changes as the WWE year comes to a close. All the major stories come to a head tonight, as we have Daniel Bryan facing HHH for a spot in the WWE Title match, Undertaker putting his Streak on the line against Brock Lesnar, and John Cena fighting the disturbing Bray Wyatt in a battle over Cena’s legacy. To say I’m excited is a huge understatement. Let’s get to it.

Since I won’t be around until several hours later, use this thread to talk about the show as it happens. Obviously spoilers won’t be an issue so say whatever you like. I’ll be back later tonight with a live report and hopefully a review tomorrow. Enjoy yourselves people and remember, tonight is our night.

Missed wm cuz of work but THE ONLY THING I CAN COMPREHEND RIGHT NOW:the streak is over!!!! Y? And y 2 Lesnar?

  4. Jerichoholic94 says:

I didn’t catch this because I was at work but everywhere I’ve gone so far I’ve seen 21-1.. I didn’t see it coming, not yet at least, if ever. I think it was the wrong move. I love Lesnar, but ‘Taker is my all time favorite. Not only that, but throughout the past 23 years he’s had 21 matches at the biggest PPV of the year, and he brings it everytime, especially recently. It was an honor to witness him go 10-0 12 years ago at the Skydome against Ric Flair and now I can’t shake the chills from my body. I may be rambling but honestly I’m in such shock I don’t really give a damn. I’m happy Bryan got to close with his big win which is the only way they saved themself from a riot. However, Bray Wyatt deserved to be put over in New Orleans.. I’ll save the rest of my thoughts (once I can collect them properly) for your actual post KB. Hope you had a great time.

Best WM in a long time. Still can’t believe it.

  6. Awesome_Miz says:

I hate you so much KB. The one Mania you go to and it’s the most remembered Mania for a lifetime.

  7. Jay H. (the real one) says:

Can we say this Wrestlemania was a changing of the guard? I am so happy Daniel Bryan is WWE Champion and both Matches with HHH & the Main Event were so good. I was on pins & needles in both DB’s Matches.

Taker’s Streak being over was a shocker, didn’t expect that. Maybe this is his last hurrah.

Cena/Bray was good,The Shield looked awesome,my girl AJ retaining,Cesaro was a beast winning the Battle Royal.

Also loved the opening with Hogan,Austin, and Rock. Definetly a Top 10 Mania for sure.

  8. #MrScissorsKick says:

How freakin’ awesome was that opener?

    Hogan. Austin. Rocky?!?

That set the tone for the rest of the night.

    That was awesome.

    • Heyo says:

I knew Austin was coming and so it wasn’t a big surprise…but Rocky? That surprised me. I loved how both Austin and Rock poked fun at Hogan over the Superdome flub, and how Hogan saved himself by saying how he was remembering slamming Andre in the SIlverdome.

But seriously, can we all agree that battle royal was awesome? Cesaro lifting Big Show is going to be remembered for a while.

  9. Heyo says:

That’s the best way to call this Mania. A freaking roller coaster.

There were moments in both Bryan matches where I thought he lost, where I thought Batista or Orton won. The near falls were insane and the fact that Bryan won both is even better now, because everyone took a beating in both matches.

Cena/Wyatt was some of the best storytelling I’ve ever seen in a match, and Cena winning is now OK with me. My goodness, Wyatt is going to be a star for years to come.

The Streak ending was the biggest shock of all time in wrestling for me.

Also, tag team opener was fun and awesome, same for the Battle Royal. Shield and Divas match…both are men, but not soul suckingly bad.

I don’t know about you guys, but that was one of the best Manias ever.

    • Heyo says:

Both those matches were meh, sorry. Stupid spell check.

    • noahconstrictor says:

I agree. That Cena/Wyatt match was nothing short of a classic in how to tell a story in a match, and both of Bryan’s matches were fantastic. The Streak ending will always be the biggest moment ever in WWE. Honestly, I’m surprised it didn’t go on last.

  10. M.R. says:

    KB you lucky bastard.

  11. Killjoy says:

Congrats KB on attenting one of the greatest wrestling events ever. it is the greatest event in my eyes. It was a total emotional roller coaster.

  12. deanerandterry says:

That Taker vs. Lesnar wasn’t the best match, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Taker look so old, may have been the reason why he lost.

  13. Heyo says:

    The Bryan era has begun.

  14. CrazyHorse says:

I’m hearing rumors that the Taker upset was an on the fly decision…Taker was really showing his age more than ever this year. The end reaction from everyone, announcers, fans and even the music guy, was just crazy…something had to have happened in the ring, but I could be wrong

  15. jimmyglass says:

This just shows how emotional invested in wrestling I still am. I am 17 and haven’t been a wrestling fan in a period where The Streak wasn’t “the thing”. I know this website is not the best place for my out cry of emotion over this but it feel like a vital part of my childhood has just been destroyed in front of me.

  16. Heyo says:

I think we just saw Taker’s last match.

  17. jimmyglass says:

I am actually in shock, I guess most people are

  18. jimmyglass says:

    THE STREAK IS OVER

  19. Stormy says:

Holy shit the Swiss Superman is incredible.

Cena/Wyatt is awesome but I still can’t get Cesaro walking in the ring with Show out of my head. Holy shit.

  20. Heyo says:

That Triple H/Bryan match was awesome.

  21. Heyo says:

I don’t know how the rest will feel, but that was a fun opener. I thought Real Americans should have won, but then they showed why. Probably for the best since Cesaro is on fire right now.
