Well I guess Punk is finally gonna get his sponsors on his shorts. What about the ice cream bars? In all seriousness though, Punk is a very smart man. Doing the podcast when he did, and then announcing his signing with UFC just 10 or so days later, his stock hasn’t been this high since the “pipebomb” in Vegas back in 2011. Now whether or not Punk will actually succeed in UFC is an entirely different topic of discussion. I think he’s gonna get his ass kicked but I hope he succeeds and proves everyone wrong.
I am a CM Punk fan. I have NEVER watched an MMA fight. I WILL be watching Fight #1.
How many more like me are there on this planet?
That’s the money question right now.
1 – He can talk. UFC are really starting to understand that someone talking trash sells fights and CM Punk is one the all-time greats in pro-wrestling as far as mic work goes.
2 – CM Punk has fans that will no doubt check out UFC to support the guy
3 – MMA fans will want to see a ‘fake’ pro-wrestler get beat up. That was part of Brock’s appeal and CM Punk is already drawing that kind of heat.
4 – MMA fighters are already lining up to fight him. The first fight will at least draw well
You don’t think he will do well? I think he will, even if he faces scrubs for a year.
I’m pretty excited about this news…if he can sell fights like Chael Sonnen did, the UFC’s buyrates will shoot up big time in 2015.
