Why wasn’t there more of an outrage last year at Wrestlemania when Edge basically squashed one of the guys WWE was trying to build up and then buried him after the match? That was Edge’s last match and it was absolutely disgraceful and disrespectful to the business for him to go out like that at the expense of the next generation.

If Alberto Del Rio had beaten and retired Edge at Wrestlemania, they still could have had him drop the title to Christian in the Extreme Rules ladder match. There is no way that Edge didn’t know that it was going to be his last match or at the very least that he couldn’t have gone out and done a job for Del Rio on the way out. Surely, Del Rio would have turned out better later in his role later in the year if WWE had put him over Edge at Wrestlemania 27.

I actually think Rock should go over Cena. Cena isn’t working as a face and hasn’t been for 7 years now (make whatever argument you want on the other side, but when 50% or so of the fans constantly chant about how much the top face sucks, there is no defending the decision to not turn him heel). Having Rock beat Cena sets up a plausible reason for Cena to snap and turn heel and also sets up a rematch for Wrestlemania 29. Then, they can put Heel Cena over The Rock. A win over Rock at Wrestlemania 28 would only make the anti-Cena half of the “WWE Universe” hate him even more, which obviously isn’t what WWE wants.

I’d actually suggest that WWE put Triple H over Undertaker via a Shawn Michaels screwjob. That provides an excuse to unretire HBK, who is probably still the best wrestler in North America despite being retired for the last 2 years. Align Heel Cena with HHH and HBK. I’d also turn Orton heel just to make a truly dominating heel faction (and because Orton’s face character is stale). That leaves the company with a shortage of top faces and basically requires them to elevate somebody. I would have Cena be the boss of the heel group and basically depend upon HHH, HBK and Orton to protect him.

The question of how to book the Jericho VS Punk match really depends on Jericho’s contract status. If he’s going to stick around, he needs to win the belt and put over Punk (or somebody else) later on. If Jericho’s gone after Wrestlemania, Punk should win.

I’m ok with Del Rio losing. Edge got to go out on a high note and it’s not like Del Rio was going to win anyway. It was pretty clear that they were going on to Edge vs. Christian over the summer so it’s not like this drastically altered plans.

Cena not working as a face? No. Just no. He gets booed because it’s the cool thing to do, but he can get the fans in the palm of his hands with ease.

Why shouldn’t Cena turn heel? Because he makes them a fortune in merchandise sales and since Punk’s time on top made ratings go down, only for Cena to bring them back up, there are two reasons to keep him on top. People want Cena to turn heel because they think it’s the save all thing, but then the adult men are going to cheer him and defeat the purpose again.

Other than the fact that Shawn has said many times he has no desire to come back and most likely wouldn’t. That’s kind of an issue no? Also based on this plan, we have Cena as a heel, HHH as a heel, Shawn as a heel and Orton as a heel. You’re a big fan of WCW aren’t you?

Keep it on Punk. No need at all to put it on Jericho.

    Question.

Does Andre vs. Hogan at Mania III count as a Passing of the Torch? Andre fell down the card, but Hogan was already pretty much the top dog, and they did rematch afterwards (albeit with shady results both times)

    • Thomas Hall says:

Not to me it doesn’t. Hogan was already long established as champion and a huge deal. I’d consider Rock vs. Cena more of one, and even that’s not a huge one.
