I can’t agree with you. This show was mostly boring. I liked last year’s HHH VS Taker match better. The near-falls just weren’t believable this year, for the most part and pretty much the entire match (after a few minutes) was just the 2 of them going for finishers or weapons. Punk VS Jericho was well below “Best in the World” level and just exposed as fraudulent WWE’s claim that these men are the best wrestlers in the world. Bringing CM Punk’s family into this feud detracted from the match.

I’m actually closer to your view than Scott Keith’s on the Orton VS Kane match. It was decent. The GM match was too long, but it had a few decent moments and the team that sucked less won. Big Show VS Rhodes was about as good as could have been expected, but that just goes to show that WWE shouldn’t have booked that match.

I especially hated seeing Bryan get squashed. That could have been a good match. I also hated the Brodus Clay crap, the stupid backstage segments and the crappy “music artists” that played Rock and Cena to the ring. But, Rock and Cena was a great match (Match of the Night and frontrunner for WWE MOTY) and saved the show for me. The right man won as well. I know Cena fans aren’t going to agree with me, but Cena the Ratings Killer needs to turn heel badly and losing to Rock sets up a heel turn and rematch at Wrestlemania 29. Cena did wrestle a heelish match (and he’s a much better wrestler as a heel), so I thought they would pull the trigger on the heel turn following a ref bump. But, I’m fine with waiting for the turn. Rock has clearly still “got it” and I thought he looked better than everybody else on the card.

Before the main event, this show was shaping up to be worse than 27. After the main event, it is a 2-match show, which is good enough for middle 3rd Wrestlemania status.

I don’t count the Tag Title match as part of Wrestlemania, but it was better than most of the matches on the actual card (I’d say it was around the same level as Punk-Jericho, meaning tied for 3rd best match of the night).

I hope WWE hurries up with the debuts of Lord Tensai, Batista and Brock Lesnar (assuming, of course, that the Wrestling Observer wasn’t making things up yet again about the latter 2). I also hope they end that stupid brand split, as they don’t have the roster to have 2 separate shows anymore. They also need to get back to having 1 champion, as it doesn’t help things for a World title to be around the waist of a jobber for 3+ months.

      Complain less.

I dislike when people can’t admit that that the Miz rose to main event (that’s who I assume you speaking of)

The DBD vs Sheamus match was meant to be a squash, so let it be.

Cena the Ratings Killer? Which is, you know, the reason why WWE took the belt off of ADR to get the ratings back up. Totally kills the rating there. Turning heel? I won’t divulge into that subject.

One champion, one brand? You sound like a typical smark. Try getting your own views for a change. And if this is really how you feel, explain to me why 1 brand 1 champ is a good idea.

      • TheSDQQKidJoe says:

But, since your anonymous, the chances of me getting an answer are slim.

      • chris says:

Yea how dare that guy have an opinion different than yours. It’s not like Cena desperately needs to go heel. He should not be booed this much, The fact that the fed has to find a way for him to win this year. Without him being booed of the building speaks volumes. He’s a heel, let him be one, or let someone else have a crack at the top.

Was an awesome show though. Can they top it this year?

    • Steve says:

Dude What??? Middle 3rd Wrestlemanias??? Worse than 27 before the Main Event??? What show were u watching, The main three matches were amazing, HHH Taker was the best match Ive seen since this years MITB, Punk and Jericho was amazing, and on any other PPV it would have stole the show however it had to follow the Cell and came before the most important WM main event since maybe 12. Rock and Cena did awesome especially when you consider the factors they were up against. The only real let down was Bryan and Sheamus. Overall I would rank this one number 7 behind with 17, 19, 3, 26, 10, and maybe 8.

Heres a question to anyone that reads this… Which title had more prestige the IC belt circa 92 or the WHC today?

      • TheSDQQKidJoe says:

Bret, HBK, Bulldog and maybe Piper were champs in 1992 I think. This list outclasses the last 20 WHC title reigns.

Awesome wrestlemania.. but didn’t like the ending.. The Rock really won? Cena was better in the whole match. He was actually carrying Rock.. he made the Rock look better ( my personal opinion) .. let’s see how they go with Cena from hereon..

    Just got back from Mania

A lot of people around me were pissed about it, but I loved the way Sheamus/Bryan went down and called it weeks before. “YES!” has become the new “WHAT?” as people would not stopped screaming it the whole night.

A dude by me thought Maria Menounos was Maria Kanellis and asked me when she started hosting a talk show. He was serious by the way.

Taker/HHH was great. The crowd ate it up and got the best reaction other than Rock/Cena. My heart skipped a beat after the DX combo finisher.

Punk/Jericho was amazing but people were still exhausted from the Cell match (I know I was) and that’s why they seemed dead. They woke up towards the last half of it and were totally into it by the end.

I don’t know what it looked like on tv, but EVERYONE loved Brodus. Everyone in my area were saying that they hope he’d show up.

The multiple concerts before the main event was annoying as hell as everyone was anxious for Cena/Rock.

Cena/Rock was great and I’m SHOCKED that Rock won. We all started at each other in disbelief after that Rock Bottom, I would have bet my house Cena would win.

Overall, amazing show and not just because I was there. Definitely one of the best ever.

Another Mania where if i rearrange the match order i lose my frustration. If i just imagine Taker/HHH/HBK went on last i can no longer care that Rocky won. Works wonders for 25 and 27 as well.

Freaking awesome Wrestlemania this year. Everything lived up the hype especially Cena/Rock & Hell In A Cell. Punk/Jericho was damn good, nearly perfect as well. The 12-Man Tag was fun though I wanted Teddy’s Team to win. Glad Sheamus won the World Heavyweight Title and Big Show won the IC Title. Even the Divas Match was fine and Orton/Kane was solid.

  6. Bull says:

Then what was it? A retarded booking decision?

    • Thomas Hall says:

No. I’d have had him lose too. Maybe not that fast, but him losing was definitely the right call.

  7. Bull says:

Whats your take on DB getting buried?

  8. TheSDQQKidJoe says:

I’d definitely put HHH vs Taker III up there with HBK vs Taker I. They tried to say away from the sequence of big spot, rest, big spot. Good match.

Punk v. Jericho: So Jericho came back, with a dual colored lite Brite jacket, to a job to Punk and leave. Major respect. Another A+ match.

Eve should of took off her shirt and revealed a Team Johnny shirt underneath while she was on the stage. Would’ve been a boost.

    Cena vs Rock: Nuff Said.

Can’t wait for Brocky Les btw.

  9. Stormy says:

    “Holy shit.”

That was my reaction while watching that entire show. The Cell match was perfect. The Punk/Jericho match was awesome, Maria Menunous is hot, and Rock/Cena came as close as possible to living up to the un-live-up-to-able hype.

I didn’t like the finish to Rock/Cena either, but I’m definitely going to hold out final judgement until the story plays out, and if it plays out well (ie Rock putting Cena over clean) it’ll be looked at better in the long run.

I would expect a rematch at SummerSlam (with Cena winning). Or maybe they use this chance to tweak the Cena character somewhat. They won’t turn him, but maybe he becomes a little bit darker after this.

  10. Hamler says:

FUUUUUUUUUUUUCKING AWESOME! By far one of the best ‘Mania’s in quite a while. Every single match tonight was amazing with the exception of two maybe. As far as the ending goes, totally unexpected. That’s probably why they did it. I actually do not see the rock leaving right away. I think they’ll squeeze another few matches out of him.

  11. The Killjoy says:

    Rock won? Shit, really?

    • The Killjoy says:

It still annoys me like hell that they open the show with a freakin’ World title match. Any reason Jericho couldn’t win the Rumble and Sheamus the battle royal?

      • Hamler says:

It doesn’t matter that much. Maybe they felt the need to build Sheamus more by adding a rumble win to his resume. It was a great show. I don’t think anyone actually cares who won the royal rumble now.

    • Steve says:

Heres a thought that nobody brought up… How incredible is it that this Mania was one of the best ever with all of the injuries that went down this year, If you start with Edge you have him, Christian, ADR, Barret, Orton (x2), Henry, Show, and Kane. Add to the list the suspensions Bourne (x2) and Truth and you have alot of star power thats not available for either WM itself or a build.

Maybe it was better to have less options and keep the card cleaner, thoughts???
