Watching this as an adult is so trippy and convoluted

Yeah you’ll find that a lot in the Attitude Era.

It’s honestly kinda disappointing. Everyone waxes poetic about this era but watching it through again it’s not as good as we want to believe. Outside of Austin, Rock, Mankind, and HHH I couldn’t care less about anyone on these shows. If that makes sense.

Yeah there is a lot of nostalgia for the era, but it was really just more energized than good.

2000 was the peak of the company before it all came crashing down in 2001. I recently watched a few 2003 shows and, to use your word, egads they were abysmal. Lol

I can make sense of the Higher Power storyline. After losing to Austin at St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, Vince knew there was a good chance that Austin could win the title back at WrestleMania against The Rock. This is even more apparent since the Rock had lost the title twice (up until that point) against Mankind and secretly, Vince lost faith in the Rock since he had never beaten Austin. As the Undertaker and the Ministry demanded control of the WWF, Vince made a deal with Taker. Why? Two things. Firstly, the Undertaker lost to Austin at SummerSlam, was screwed out of the title at Judgment Day (when Austin was the ref) and was buried alive by Austin at Rock Bottom. Secondly, the Undertaker and the Ministry was the perfect cover for Vince to execute a grand master plan to screw Austin out of the title. Mind you, Vince must have been extremely paranoid and out of his mind by February 99 since Austin was going to WM. Also, keep in mind that the Ministry started to plot against kidnapping Stephanie after Vince lost to Austin in February. So, a deal between Vince, Shane, Paul Bearer and the Undertaker only must have been struck in order to hide the fact that these two warring factions were working together. I assume when the Corporate Ministry was formed, they only knew that Shane was working with Taker. Probably on the RAW previous to this episode, where the Higher Power was revealed to Stone Cold, after the show the entire Corporate Ministry was informed that it was Vince. I doubt that this was the thinking of Vince Russo but I believe that this explains why Vince tortured himself and his family all to screw Stone Cold Steve Austin.
