Wrestlemania 29 Preview: Undertaker vs. CM Punk

I’ll try to have something to say about this but it’s not going to be easy. For twenty two years now, the Undertaker has never lost at Wrestlemania.  For the last few years now, an attempt at breaking the Streak has been almost as important if not more important than the world title matches.  Breaking the Streak is something people have tried to do for years and CM Punk is the latest in line to make a run at it.  There are two ways to go after Taker at Wrestlemania: as a matter of honor or as a personal matter.

Punk has taken the latter and that means the match is going to suffer as a result.  At the end of the day, while Punk has played up the idea of insulting the memory of Paul Bearer as well as the idea of getting Undertaker disqualified, I haven’t been sucked into the feud.  Punk looks incredibly bored by this whole thing and it seems that he’s out to  just tick Undertaker off rather than actually have a good program to set up the match.  People have been stealing the urn from Undertaker for years now and Hogan already threw the ashes inside of it into Taker’s eyes to beat him back in 1991.  It’s kind of hard to get into a feud like that when you’ve seen HHH and Shawn tear the house down with Taker four years in a row now you know?

As for the match, it’s Undertaker at Wrestlemania.  Undertaker wins.  He just does.

True, however, as you said, it’s Vince’s show. If Vince decides that Punk should be jobbing to Undertaker, Punk is going to be jobbing to Undertaker. I have no issue with him wanting to be in the main event of Wrestlemania but that spot is reserved for 2-3 people a year. Maybe he would have made it someday, but to freak out because he wasn’t in it that year came off as whiny.

In retrospect, Punk looking bored during the build doesn’t surprise me, since he made it public that he didn’t want the Taker program and wanted a triple threat with Cena and Rock instead.

True, but remember that he’s a professional and it was ALL WWE’s fault.

If he was indeed professional he Wouldn’t have taken his ball and gone home like a baby when he didn’t get the Wrestlemania match he wanted I mean how can you be upset about fighting UNDERTAKER at his show?

First of all it’s mcmahons show. Second you wouldn’t be pissed if you didn’t get to fulfil your life long dream? Instead of being a stastic for taker. Yea you or I would love to do that just to say we have. But punk had already been at mania. He has goals in life like everyone else.

Punk isn’t a guy I would but beating Taker at Mania for a second. Taker wont get Dq’ed or counted out, he won’t get screwed or any thing else. Last year with HHH he had the aspect of Shawn in the ring with him and EVERYONE jumped out of their seat when Shawn super kicked him into the pedigree because it really could have been over. Punk has nothing for me that can stop Undertaker at Wrestlemani, Not Heyman, not his GTS, nothing.

Considering how personal they tried to make this feud, it needed more time. I understand Bearer just passed, but this feud should have started before that and the Paul Bearer aspect of it could have been incorporated later into the program. Personally, this is my most anticipated match for this year’s Mania. It’s the Undertaker at Wrestlemania and CM Punk is the best in WWE next to Cena. Should be a great one if they give it enough time.

I love Punk, but no one is beating Undertaker at Wrestlemania ever.
