KB, I think you’re overthinking things. Obviously, the reason Mr. Fuji challenged Hogan on the spot to a title shot was because of his overwhelming arrogance, notorious among Asian/Hawaiians. Fuji knew he would go down in history as the man who destroyed Hulkamania if Yokozuna hadn’t blown it.
As far as Hogan’s confusion regarding the DQ decision, admit it: we’ve all been there. Like when I firebombed that alleged mob safehouse a few years back; with all the adrenaline coursing through my veins, I assumed the cavalry of policemen showed up to congratulate me, because I DID THE RIGHT THING. Sure, if I had stopped to think beforehand, I probably would have realized that even though I’m simply fighting fire with fire, doing what I have to do to defeat the bad guys, there’s a good chance law enforcement may have to follow the laws of the state. Like Hogan, I’m sure I would have come up with a different recourse. But warriors like us don’t just have time to play point/counterpoint when we’re in the heat of battle.

One question, though: How come Jimmy’s 3-count wasn’t considered legally binding? Like the Hulkster, I’d always thought that in case of referee unavailability, the nearest manager automatically assumes official responsibility. Ah…I think I already figured out the answer. Either that vile Dibiase paid someone high in WWE management off, or nobody bothered to file an official protest with the Top Dog, WWF President Jack Tunney. I think I’ll shoot a quick email to President Tunney right now! Maybe we can retro-actively reverse this abomination of justice! (Thanks, Gorilla).

It’s a fun show… For the first two matches. Oh well I liked the commentary team of JR, Heenan and Savage and having the show at Caesars palace gave a unique look and feel to the show. I don’t love it but I hate it less than most even the Hogan stuff at the end KINDA made sense as you knew he was on his way out and was due to put somebody over. That wound up being Yoko.

Either this, or Wham Bam Bodyslam was the first wrestling event I ever saw when I was 7 (rented them both and can’t remember which I watched first)

I remember being so happy that The Hulkster won the title and saved the day at the end, and how awesome the whole event was.

Even in the 30 Years of Mania and 50 Years of WWE books, Bret still takes shots at Hogan pulling this crap and obviously still bad feelings.
