    @FauladKaAulad

Clearly you’ve missed my point and now you’ve begun grasping. Being more interesting than what happened last month doesn’t make it interesting. it’s boring.

And I’m not comparing it to the ’98 tournament in saying it should be the same. I’m saying they went with a tournament and gave us names that could have walked out as champion. This tournament doesn’t have that and it’s not because that was the ‘Golden Era’ it’s because this tournament is filled with people who are not World Champion caliber stars. Yes, Miz, Sheamus, Ziggler and Del Rio have been in the past but they are not on that level right now. Hence why I suggested taking an extra week to make those people seem more important. It probably would not have worked much, but it’s better than what we’re getting.

  2. Thomas Hall says:

It’s not reaction. If that was the case, Zack Ryder was a bigger main event star than the Rock at Survivor Series 2012.

There really isn’t a definition for it. It’s one of those things where you just know it when you see it. Short version: if you have a realistic chance to win a match but aren’t regularly a featured attraction, you’re in the midcard.

  3. Jay H (the real one) says:

You know I doubt it would have mattered how WWE had booked this Tournament. If they had put the big guns in it then we would have heard well WWE isn’t trying to push anyone new to the top and is going back to the old reliable. When they go with what they have and don’t call back John Cena early or try to bring Brock Lesnar back its this looks like an IC or European Title Tournament.

They are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

    • @Jay H – for the life of me I don’t understand this “mid-card” tournament jargon. I really don’t.

KB has spent reviews after reviews about how much he hates Orton vs Sheamus. And about how these random matches without feuds don’t mean or head to anything. And yet here were are, with new match ups for a purpose. Culminating in a WC belt.

Yeah, this can be a vanilla tournament – or a swerve in place somewhere – but who cares? Lets watch, and find out.

Not so long ago, Owens was a smark fans wet dream; Roman and Ambrose were part of the shield break out stars; Ziggler was a Internet darling; Del Rio was the criminally underused but hidden gem; Cesaro was THE European star who could transcend the mid-American mindset – and yet, now these are mid carders?

      • Thomas Hall says:

Yeah they’re midcarders and they’re going to stay that way for now. Owens will be in the main event scene someday.

I don’t mind this tournament nearly as much. They’re keeping it quick and Reigns/Ambrose is likely to wind up as champion. That’s not a bad thing.

        • Jay H (the real one) says:

That’s my prediction that it ends up being Roman & Dean in the Finals with maybe a Heel turn for one of them. I will be at Survivor Series so im interested to see what happens.

        • @KB – so clearly I’m not grasping this mid carder concept.

Is Mid carder based on popularity? Roman consistently gets a top 3 reaction (boo + yay index, not just yay index); Did my surround sound fail me or did Owens get the hottest reaction in Manchester upon entry; Wasn’t it you that said Cesaro is getting a loud reaction from the crowd?; Ambrose/Ziggler – are they not top merch sellers for WWE?

Or is Mid carder based on lack of main eventing? Ambrose was main eventing fall shows last year with Rollins and Wyatt; Reigns was in the main event of WM this year; KO pretty much stole the show this summer with his Cena feud; Ziggler/Show/Sheamus/Miz/Del Rio are all former World Champs and have headlined various past events….

      • Greg says:

“Del Rio was the criminally underused but hidden gem.”

I’d argue the exact opposite. Del Rio is incredibly boring. He was in the world title scene forever and had one boring feud after another.

        • @Greg – I don’t disagree. But you go through the IWC troll pages when Del Rio was away. Everyone was up at arms at how WWE had fired Del Rio and not utilized him to the fullest – and how he was the golden boy of the LU/ROH universe.

  4. M.R. says:

Ambrose is a career midcarder. Reigns may be moving in that direction.

    • what? based on what? Based on the two years Ambrose has been playing the field, earning his stripes? Its been 2 years!! Doesn’t everyone start as a jobber > mid carder > main eventer?

Did you say the same thing about Punk (cruiser?), Edge (tag?), Bryan??

      • james gracie says:

For goodness sake. Stop making excuses for WWE’s poor handling of their roster.

WWE will never have to change their format and better their shows cause there are way too many fans like you who constantly make excuses for them and never hold them accountable

        • Jay H (the real one) says:

This coming from a guy who comes on here every week bitching about every Show but continues to watch it anyway. Why? Because he’s a hypocrite.

      • Ted says:

Oh don’t worry about m.r. He just riles people up with nonsense he knows to be untrue.

        • @Ted – yeah, there are idiots on this site (and WWE trolls in general) that bitch and moan about a product that they can at anytime walk away from, and yet won’t, spending time and energy criticizing and moaning about lack of direction and endeavour – and then have the balls to term others as apologists.

  5. Marky-Marc says:

No Cena, no Orton, no Lesnar, no Rollins. This is a horrible tournament.
There are ways they could make it more interesting though, but they won’t.

They could’ve used this weeks Raw to build up first round matches. have Owens squash Darren Young and taunt Titus. Have Breeze beat Ryder then cut his ‘ugly’ promo on Ambrose. How about Neville/Cesaro vs. Sheamus/Barrett to set up those two matches? Then hold the first round matches on next weeks Raw and Smackdown and the final 8 at the PPV.

This feels way too much like a midcard tournament and it makes it very lame. I’d be shocked if we don’t get Reigns and Ambrose in the finals and while that could be awesome, everything leading up to it is not interesting.

Really disappointed by this outcome and I hope they have some tricks up their sleeve to surprise us in some way.

    • nothing you’ve backseat-written makes me like your version more than what WWE gave me.

Also Cena, Orton, Rollins are all on the shelf in case you’ve been napping.

Again, I disagree – I think Roman/Cesaro, Ambrose/Ziggler are really good match ups – that I’ve not seen before, so looking forward to that.

Also, I don’t know if an Ambrose v Roman is a lock yet.

      • Marky-Marc says:

Clearly you’re going to like anything WWE gives you.

I was mostly pointing out the bad luck they have with not having the big stars available for the tournament. Had Cena not taken a leave and Orton not been injured the tournament would have a much more exciting feel to it.

I agree that those two matches are fresh and will more than likely be very good. You know what makes them uninteresting though? That I know who’s going to win. Put Cesaro in Del Rio’s spot to fight Reigns in an awesome semifinal that may actually make me think Cesarp has a chance. A good match? Sure. Interesting? No

It could be Owens instead of Ambrose but I really think Ambrose is the route they’re going.

In 98 you had Austin, Taker, Kane, Mankind and The Rock as options to win. Here, you have Reigns and Ambrose. It’s a tournament to determine the champion of the world and you have I’d say 12 of the 16 with a zero percent chance to win the title. That makes it uninteresting.

        • Greg says:

To be fair WWE is missing Bryan, Cena, Orton and Rollins. Wyatt can’t be in the tournament due to already being in the Taker one when Rollins got injured.

Those aren’t names WWE can just replace quickly.

        • @Marky – and you’re clearly what – an abused wife sticking with her abusive husband? Don’t like the product, well watch New Japan!

And you’re comparing the current product to the golden era of WWE? Why don’t we compare the current product to what was on offer last month? I’d take a tournament with enough spice to satiate the palette vs a Kane and Rolling feud, which was incredibly boring and one could see the outcome a mile away. This, I’d argue not so much.

  6. dookie blaster 3000 says:

lol fans are the worst sometimes

Reigns gets a push and fans bitch and moan about him being “forced’ on to the audience. gee, i wonder why wwe would want the next champ to start winning matches..

so then when wwe chills on the push, fans bitch and moan about wwe not pushing anyone. lol what a joke.

i bet if they hold on on giving him the title for 5 years, when he finally gets it, “smart” fans are gonna roll their eyes and go ‘ugh i knew he was winning, stop forcing him on us wwe!’

  7. M.R. says:

I wouldn’t think Khalisto would even be in an Intercontinental tournament. But they refuse to truly push anyone, or maybe just don’t know how to.

  8. M.R. says:

Why would Undertaker and Kane need to put a team together when they just beat them 2-on-4?

  9. ted says:

So we open with a long boring promo from h before Reings comes out. To once again show he’s not suited for these types of promos. Then To prove how exciting Reigns is. They make him wrestle a slow, plodding match with big show. Good grief it’s like they want the audience to hate the guy. The audience was doing the wave. That’s how little they care about it.

    • what was wrong with Roman’s promo – it wasn’t long and arduous with him trying to sound cheesy or otherwise. He was pretty much reacting to HHH and played along nicely

I think some people just need to get off this hate bandwagon

  10. Steve says:

So with Sheamus losing in the first round does this mean we’re getting a cash in at Survivor Series?

  11. Aeon Mathix says:

Its never going to be explained what happened when Kane and undertaker were carried away is it? Are any of Brays feuds explained? Oh no because they are like cryptic or some stupid nonsense.

    • Thomas Hall says:

Nope. And I’m ok with that as long as Undertaker and Kane lose at Survivor Series.

I’m not going to be ok with this.

      • Aeon Mathix says:

They aren’t going to lose man. Especially not after taker came off that cell loss. Wouldn’t be surprised if its a clean sweep
