I’m fine with it with all the injuries the company has endured lately.

Nope Triple H still has no business being world champion in 2016.

Who else would be better at this moment, considering a main event at a Wrestlemania with 100000+ people in the audience?

Reigns? He got booed the second rumble in a row. He would get booed as a face champion again I suppose. Time will fix this as always, but not unil Mania. Maybe now as he is challenging, maybe later.

Lesnar? It didn’t work very well last year. Besides being 1:1 the same storyline again. (Lesnar vs Reigns)

The injuries really caught them on this one. They had to do something, as RR vs Lesnar would be a rematch that can’t be selled in this context. So what else?

    • ted says:

They are not getting 100 thousand people I can promise you that.

The company does not get a pass just because of injuries or lack of making new stars.

On top of that why couldn’t you go with ambrose? Or Owens? Or AJ? No what you mean is they are not willing to take a chance after the Reigns fiasco. Even though they were given plenty of warning of it not working.

      • Greg says:

It is WAY TOO SOON for AJ to be the WWE champion. Especially going into Wrestlemania. That is completely an unrealistic expectation. But Styles is great in the ring! WHO GIVES A SHIT. It means nothing. He has to connect with the casuals first before he means anything.

Owens and Ambrose aren’t at a point where they can be relied upon to be top draws. You don’t experiment (usually) going into Mania. This is not a B level PPV.

Reigns does get cheered. You refuse to listen to the times he does. Smark towns boo him. Doesn’t mean he is always booed.

When Cena, Orton and Rollins go down, I’ll give them a pass. Why? Cause you can’t have guys waiting in the wings to replace people like those three. It is impossible. Those are mega stars (okay, Rollins was developing into a mega star). You can’t build backup mega stars in case of injury. Doesn’t work like that.

Oh come off it. Just try it, it might actually work. You act as thought they couldn’t just throw the belt on whoever they want at anytime? the name wrestlemania sells the show. For god sake the tickets for the show are usually more than half sold before any card is even announced.

“But Styles is great in the ring! WHO GIVES A SHIT. It means nothing. ”

This is such a stupid comment it made my mind explode. Hey Greg what do you suppose these wrestlers spend three quarters of their time doing? Bravo on all caps. I’m sure empathizes makes you more right somehow?

” He has to connect with the casuals first before he means anything.”

How would you know if he could before you try it? If sheamus can be world champ less than three months after debuting on raw. I see no reason why aj can’t win the belt.

“Owens and Ambrose aren’t at a point where they can be relied upon to be top draws. ”

If you push them and treat them as such yes they can. Like it i said it might not work but how would you know unless you try?

“. You don’t experiment (usually) going into Mania.”

With the sheer number of injuries there would be no better time to experiment. Who knows you might actually create some new stars. That is what they’re trying to do isn’t it?

” This is not a B level PPV.”

It’s the perfect show to make new stars.

          “Reigns does get cheered.”

          I never said he doesn’t.

“You refuse to listen to the times he does.”

You refuse to read what I write. He doesn’t get cheered enough to be the center focus of raw. He isn’t versatile enough at this point, To make his matches interesting, His promos are awful. I’ve always been fair and said part of the blame goes to the people who write them. He’s still terrible at delivering them. He doesn’t have much charisma. All in all he’s to generic and every time he’s put against someone who has charisma he gets booed. He’s where he’s at because he looks the part, without knowing how to play the part.

“Doesn’t mean he is always booed.”

Never said that learn to read.

“When Cena, Orton and Rollins go down, I’ll give them a pass. Why? Cause you can’t have guys waiting in the wings to replace those three”

          Even though that’s their job?

“Those are mega stars (okay, Rollins was developing into a mega star). You can’t build backup mega stars in case of injury. Doesn’t work like that”

Your own writing disproves your own point. Rollins was on his way up. Dean ambrose in my opinon is on his way up. Owens, A.J. , etc could be slotted into main event status.

This isn’t woe is the wwe the talent roster is so thin. This is wwe doing their best to smash their version of who the stars on the roster are, and the audience disagreeing, This is my biggest problems with Reigns.

He’s not the guy, it’s quite clear he isn’t. Yet instead of listening to the audience and trying some of the aforementioned guy in his slot. They tell the audience their wrong and Reigns is the future. This is why you get reactions like rr 2014 and 2015 and arguably 2016. The company is tone deaf. They refuse to listen to what the audience wants and think they can tell you what you want. It does not work that way.

With the list of injuries they really had only a few options.

The idea of HHH as a champion in 2016 makes sense in this context, but it leads to a few problems:

It killed the drama out of the finale of the rumble match. They couldn’t do much on this one as I blame it on the injuries of the top stars.

This will pretty sure lead to a RR vs HHH storyline at mania, making this the second year in a row, where everythig from the rumble to the main event of maina resolves around RR.
The match will be good, but I get a headache when I think of the two outcomes:
HHH wins: That would be awful.
RR wins: That would be the third road to WM in a row, where a person needs to overcome the odds. With Bryan in 2014, many people liked it, it still was fresh back then, but to me it was even then extremly overbooked in a way where I lost my interest.

The authority storyline. This is my biggest issue. It bored me to death with the neverending screwing around with power back in 2013/14, and eventually led to skipping all the PPVs between last years Mania and now for me. It has been done great one time (Vince vs Austin) but it has been repeated so many times since then, that it just isn’t interesting anymore to me. It also hurts the show, because I get the feeling everything resolves around it, with no really interesting storylines on the side.

    By the way:
It could be the year of the IC title! With the world championship being in an endless authority storyline, this could really get interesting with people like Ambrose, Jericho, Styles, KO and maybe a few others chasing it. After all a great midcard can really put the whole product on another level.
