this was the best lesnar match imo.so glad to see gioldberg getting his moment.a 2 min squash of lesnar is far better than boring lesnar matches consisting to suplexes after suplexes.every lesnar match lefts a bad taste in my mouth..not this one…i am very very happy seeing lesnar humbled.

You know what shocked my about Survivor Series? The reaction of the “fans” all over. Seriously? Am I the only one who saw this coming a mile away? I’m usually so bad at this stuff.
Lesnar NEEDED to lose to get him down a peg and Goldberg just happened to be the most obvious choice at the moment. Goldberg being injured (he said he was injured in an interview prior to survivor series) turned this into a 2 minute squash because he was unable to do a longer match.
So THANK YOU Sandy because your comment was exactly what I needed to hear at this time to feel sane again.
Btw I had the same reaction as you except it felt more like “duh” then “finally!” if that makes any sense :-P. If not, forget I said anything.

It’s not that far fetched to believe kayfabe wise. Goldberg beat Lesnar at his own game. Everyone tried to have a match against Lesnar which proved every time to be useless. Goldberg used the two moves that could take him down right away and it worked. Awesome if you are a casual as my wife is and she was screaming with joy when it happened.

If you look at it like we do and have all the calculations, booking, flawed logic running through our heads yes, it is indeed extremely head scratching. But as a fan it was a pretty great moment.

Here’s my problem with that match.

Lesnar crushed Big Show, Randy Orton, Triple H (sorta), John Cena, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose. He ended Undertaker’s streak.

Then he gets crushed by Goldberg, someone who hasn’t wrestled in 13 years, in under 2 minutes. That just doesn’t make sense. It’s a virtual slap in the face to everyone on the main roster.

It’s definitely shocking and will get people talking, but common sense over shock value any day of the week. I don’t hate it as much as I did at first, and it’s certainly not the worst move ever, but I definitely don’t like it.

  4. Davey Meredith says:

Rumor is Goldberg has signed on to appear at the Royal Rumble Ppv.

  5. NightShiftLoser says:

I like it. Keeps Brock interesting by keeping him human. Now there’s a target on his back and he can swat aside some more people before the big ‘Mania match with…whoever.

I definitely need to watch those two main events though. Holy crap.

    • ted says:

I would argue that it makes lesnar look bad. Lesnar can end the undefated streak of undertaker. Crush John cena like silly putty. But he can’t beat a guy who hasn’t wrestled in 13 years? He gets beat in 2 mins? Yea dumb.

      • Dragon says:

He was caught off guard, something his other opponents failed to do. From that perspective it can be an interesting storyline. And yeah everyone is getting a little too dramatic here. Lesnar will be fine.

  6. Jay H (the real one) says:

Some of you are just being a little too over dramatic saying oh they are screwed or this WWC levels or Fingerpoke Of Doom levels.

  7. BestSportsEntertainer says:

    WHAT?!?!

I don’t get this. Like at all. I’m pissed off, confused, and mindblown all at the same time.

    I really have no comment.

This is just spitting in the face and crapping on wrestlers like Dean Ambrose, John Cena, Randy Orton, and Undertaker. (I’m sure I’m missing some others)

I really don’t get it. Like. How can one company be so stupid? They enjoy screwing over their fans and pissing people off. That’s the only explanation I have. I don’t know.

  8. Dorian says:

I was at the show, and some take aways

    1) Y2J got the loudest pop bar none, Goldberg had the chant going pretty well throughout the entrance and the match (though my section started a Cold Beer chant going which was pretty hilarious), and Sami was probably the third.
    2) Reigns – loudest boo, next loudest when Ambrose came out to attack AJ after being eliminated – this was accompanied by Stupid Idiot – which seemed very apropo
    3) when shane got cut in half by Reigns there was a loud exhale in unision across the building, not sure how this came across on the telly
    4) when Y2J and KO were knocked out, the crowd went really silent and you had RR and Orton doing a lot of hand waving to get the cheering going again.
    5) TEN! TEN! TEN! TEN! Wonder how this came out during the telecast.
    6) There was a rumour within the building that Taker and Rock were in the arena and people were so convinced that they would come out in that smackdown vs raw co-main event, it was funny and illogical.
    7) people like me who waited too long to take a piss break before the Raw vs Smackdown match had to REALLY hold on. The line ups after that match was INSANE.

  9. Eric says:

The thing no one is talking about? This was the most exciting a Brock Lesnar match has been in about 3 years.

    • Thomas Hall says:

It’s a brilliant, brilliant short term move. Unfortunately that ends the good portion.

      • Eric says:

I don’t even care about short term or long term. I just have felt Brock has been an utter waste for years. He’s become Scott Steiner of 03 with his limited offense, Paul Heyman has even become stale. It’s an act that just doesn’t work anymore. Perhaps my annoyance by even hearing the name “Lesnar” has brought me to a place of solace in his wrestling demise. Either that, or the fact that Goldberg gave me some great interview answers and is one of the nicest guys I’ve worked with. One or the other.

  10. Dorian says:

On the GO (Toronto LRT) on the way back from ACC and I have a chalk full of people pissed off at that ending.

They ended the show what 45 mins before the usual PPV ending – and they end it with what, that POS garbage.

As a Canadian, I do find the snarky Canadian crowd to be too smarkish at times – but this is a good knowledgeable crowd. And when you feed it BS like New Day getting eliminated within 2 mins, Sasha off in 10, KO got dq’ed etc – you’ll have some pretty unhappy fans. That ending though, was a royal screw you for anyone who has been invested and stood up for this monster Brock run which has included ending Taker’s streak, decimating Punk, ambrose, Cena, Orton along the way. What a pile of worthless poo!

  11. Jay H (the real one) says:

You know what I think the objective was to get people talking and guess what job well done. I don’t think this will kill Brock’s aura in anyway because he’s still a draw and people want to see him. Also if they were going to bring in Goldberg then bring him back in this manner. Im now convinced this wasn’t a one and done for him either.

    • Dmxfury says:

This is like subscribing to the theory that any news is good news.

    • Dorian says:

I think this company is screwed if they think that any news is good news; cause that is how WWC was run and it got burnt to the ground.

    • james gracie says:

That was Vince Russo’s reasoning for putting the WCW world title on David Arquette……how did that end up working out for WCW? #LOLJay #AlwaysHasAnExcuse #ItsAlwaysSunnyInWWE

      • Jay H (the real one) says:

The fact you are comparing this to Russo putting the WCW Title on an actor further proves how stupid you are.

        #jamesgraciebelongsonTheListOfJericho.

  12. Hamler says:

That one minute squash would’ve done wonders for Owens, wyatt or anyone else but goldberg for that matter. Imagine the promo owens could’ve cut after doing so.

  13. Brendan says:

The dominant monster underestimated the returning “over the hill” monster and it proved to be his downfall. Goldberg wins. Lesnar wins the rematch when he takes it more seriously.

  14. Heyo says:

I’ve heard comparisons between this and the Fingerpoke of Doom.

Maybe it’s just me but that feels so accurate that it’s scary.

  15. Your Eternal Reward says:

I’m so glad i tuned out after the pointless tag match.

  16. Dmxfury says:

Gross ‘main event’. I don’t know if much can be more disappointing than XX bit in a weird way this was worse. F this company and their ability to make money in spite of themselves. If Goldberg couldn’t go then at least switch the men SS match around with it so it doesn’t close

  17. Prophet says:

    Wow…

  18. Jacob Jones says:

So that virtually means the era of Suplex City is over. Now what does Brock Lesnar do?

I’m guessing he’s on his way out of the company or got docked for wellness issues.

  19. Jerichoholic94 says:

What the absolute fck was that main event? I wouldn’t even be so mad about losing $50 on a bet if it was even somewhat competitive. Lesnar didn’t even throw a punch! Thank god I didn’t buy tix for this BS. Also, why setup Undertaker being disappointed with a loss than never happens? So much confusion. I didn’t even read the review yet.

  20. Anonymous says:

I am still in shock at the ending I mean there has to be something else right.
From what I have heard Goldberg was injured so they wanted to end it quick or This match being punishment for Lesnar being lazy and the drug test idk

  21. chad says:

haha classic Goldberg, that was awesome.. I must say those spears looked kinda weak though

  22. M.R. says:

    Well that was surprising.

  23. Killjoy says:

I take it 2K Sports paid good buck for it.
