The reason Rusev wasn’t there is because he & Lana were at the Predators/Ducks Playoff Game. I am willing to bet he’ll be at Backlash on Sunday.

“Opinion: C-. This was a rather flat show heading into what feels like a flat pay per view. I’m interested in Styles vs. Owens and that’s really about it on the entire card. What am I supposed to care about other than that match? Breezango? The six woman tag? Jinder Mahal? They’re fine for a big Smackdown but it doesn’t quite work that well on a pay per view. The show was good enough but nothing I’ll remember in a day or two.”

Well the Nakamura/Ziggler match that they’re basically building the show around.

Also, I agree KB, “snatch you bald” is the most cringeworthy and irritating threat I have ever heard on WWE tv. What the heck was Naomi thinking when she came up with that?

As somebody who is pretty well versed in new school slang I have no idea wtf that means.

I hate when they build Corbin up to have him lose or go over on a kickoff show few people watch.

      Breezango continues to be hilarious.

Smackdown was weak this week, for Smackdown anyways. I guess this week it took the …dive that Raw usually does.

The card for Sunday looks good. Nakamura vs. Ziggler could be special if they don’t just rehash the generic post show dark matches they have been having and Ziggler makes some effort to really put Nakamura over with the new WWE audience that will be seeing Nakamura for the first time. That’s his only job Sunday night. Nakamura’s entrance in Chicago could alone make up for anything else. AJ vs. Owens should be match of the night and Jinder Mahal’s rocket push has got me curious. Could they really pull the trigger? The Breezango vignettes have given them a shot in the arm so the tag title match could be interesting as well.

In summary, Smackdown once again has a much better set-up PPV than Raw.

Also KB, just a sidebar. The name of the language is not Punjab, rather it’s Punjabi. Punjab is the actual state. Just a tip for future reviews. I’m a little surprised as to who wrote that creative since Gandhi never spoke Punjabi and the name of Mahal’s finisher as they are calling it is not even an actual word in the Punjabi language.

    • Thomas Hall says:

Noted on the Punjab thing. That’s what Phillips called it tonight so I went with it. I even looked up whatever the word is and couldn’t find it so the spelling is a glorified guess.

      • Sagar says:

It’s spelt as ‘Khallas’, if that helps. The word does exist, just not in Punjabi. It’s more of a slang word here.

Breezangos skit was once again a highlight. Kind of a throwback to the old Fuji Vice if you remember that. Mahals push has grown on me and am curious to see how he does on sunday…..have to disagree with u on Corbin’s loss…I don”t see the big deal. He lost to the WORLD CHAMPION……and speaking of champions I believe a Carmella title run would be much better than the current bland Naomi run
