    Awesome pics.

The most intriguing thing about all of this to me is the disparity between the Golden Lovers line and the nonexistent lines for other NJPW guys like Tana and Suzuki. You would think that if you were in that long GL line that it would stand to reason that you just bail and see if you can get to the legends and the other puro guys to scratch that New Japan itch. It makes me wonder how many fans are absorbing this big time drawing Bullet Club Civil War story line through BTE and ROH and just have no awareness of the NJPW chunk of it(which is where the primary plot points happen).

I thought the same. I’d MUCH rather see those three and not waste that much time, even if I have to pay a little more.

Strategy I’ve learned from years of these things (never Mania week but conventions none the less):

    1) get to know the handlers/managers – if the know you and remember you, they won’t be such dicks if you talk to someone without pulling out your wallet

    2) have your top 5 people to meet, but understand who will have the longest lines. I never get on the long lines as you can usually catch people at the end once things slow down.

    3) make friends with indy talent. – they’ll sometimes introduce you to bigger names, and THEY may be a bigger name at some point. Case and point, a little over a year ago, I was at a convention and hung with Donovan Dijak and Mike Bennett (and Maria). They’re all in WWE now and would be far harder to meet.

    4) make an ass of yourself – that’s kind of my thing. Get in to some ridiculous conversation with a wrestler, like arguing Marvel vs DC villains with Greg Helms or Florida vs FSU football with Ron Simmons.

    5) make connections. – keep in touch with people so next time, you have a leg up.

I love doing the conventions and while I do them as media, it’s all in good fun for me.
