But WWE Is Dying Right?

In the words of the butler from Mr. Deeds: “How about a billion dollars?”

Even if this is a bigger disaster than the XFL, just making it to such a major network is a huge accomplishment for WWE and shows what can happen when you stick with family friendly TV instead of going over the top.  I’m not sure how long it’s going to last there, but this is a big upgrade, at least for the time being.

ESPN just paid $1.5 billion for the UFC over 5 years, 300 million a year. No doubt that played into WWE’s hands.

I really don’t understand why we can’t just be happy that they landed Smackdown on Fox. Oh wait i forgot we have praise The Bullet Club for selling out a 10,000 Seat Arena instead.

I really don’t get why we can’t just be happy that they landed on Fox. To me it’s nothing but a good thing that one of the two Major weekly Shows is there. Oh wait i forgot we have to praise The Bullet Club instead for selling out a 10,000 seat Arena but trash WWE all the time.

    This pricepoint is laughable.

  5. M.R. says:

Not sure this proves much of anything other than Fox execs are overestimating the value of live events, hence paying $3B for the dreadful Thursday Night Football package.

See KB, what were trying to say is that WWE is dying from a viewers standpoint. Not a business standpoint.

I get all that. It just comes off as laughable when something like this happens. It’s bad for the hardcore fans but someone certainly seems to like it.

I think the product is at its lowest point since maybe 2006, but financially they’re doing very well.

    • Thomas Hall says:

See, we keep saying that (myself included) and yet they keep making so much money that it’s clearly not mattering.

      • BestSportsEntertainer says:

That’s the unfortunate truth. WWE can do whatever they want, since there’s no real competition.

        • Dmxfury says:

And industry after industry shows that what’s best for financials is not necessarily correlated with the best product. Wrestling is no different, product is horrific but good for the company on the business side
