That title is hella misleading because it makes me think that this show is the misstep not all out.

Just to ask why do you consider something like edge and foley vs terry funk/dreamer like better? I’m not saying it’s not and I think a lot of it had to do with crowd reaction and working with foleys ecw character and making edge look legit but my point is it’s still hardcore wrestling with similar spots and it’s not like they’re going czw batshit crazy.

Basically I’m asking, because you’re like oh I don’t really like hardcore wrestling but you clearly do under the right circumstances so I’m curious what the difference is for you.

        It’s a couple of things.

        1. Better talent/a better story. You have Foley and Edge and Funk in there and they could make reading the phone book interesting.
        2. The story led to this and it isn’t like that’s all Edge could do. It was a special occasion and that makes the gimmick feel better.
        3. To tie into that, Moxley does hardcore/violent wrestling far too often and it loses its impact.
        4. The ONS match was just better. Better paced, better spots, more brutal, better story, better wrestlers and better everything.

I liked the main event but I like seeing violence every now and then. This had less of a reason to happen than can be the case for better built hardcore matches but the story is basically Kingston’s trying to prove himself and moxleys a crazy hardcore badass with a czw background. This would’ve been wayyy better with a crowd but you could say that for most things on the show. I appreciate actually getting to see violent hardcore wrestling because we almost never get it anymore because wwes become so pg. You bring up tna but I think most new fans wouldn’t have even seen those old tna abyss/sabu matches anyway.

Lol aew can only get 70% rubbing alcohol, I haven’t been able to get 90% for my bong since pandemic either 🙁

  5. Sebastian Howard says:

I think whoever was booking the Kingston/moxley match had trips/foley at rumble 2000 in mind.

Nice to see some barbed wire.

  7. Sebastian Howard says:

Seeing jericho/mjf actually get to interact with the crowd is so nice and refreshing.

  8. Sebastian Howard says:

So lame that that they didn’t even catch the spear through the table spot on camera,
I guess they were trying to have hardy do the same thing Sammy did to him last ppv.

  9. Sebastian Howard says:

Wtf is up with the random music in hardy/Sammy?

  10. Sebastian Howard says:

Shane helms should’ve came back as 3 count era.

I’m still watching the show but Cody/allin was kind of weird because of the commentary. They were trying to push this angle that Cody was getting too cocky and that’s why he lost but it really just comes across like he was trying his best to beat allin and lost. The commentators screaming at Cody for doing going to the top and telling him what to do was just weird.

    • Wim says:

I agree. I just saw the show now (I never see it live). That match did not work and a lot had to do with the commentary. Cody is supposed to be the (or at least “a”) face of the company. Having the commentators point out his incompetence is the worst way possible to use him. At the same time Darby Allin doesn’t come across as a winner because he got beat up most of the match.
