So everyone agrees Night 1 was better right?
Also, I find it inexcusable for a 2 night Takeover not to have the WORLD TITLE main event ether show.

They got the main event wrong. I enjoyed it, but they mentioned how Kyle wasn’t medically cleared and was still suffering from the brainbuster. There’s no way he should be winning this match against a fully fit Cole, and in fact a loss here to Cole sets up a rematch when O’Rielly is in fact 100% for him to get the win. From here I struggle to see how this continues logically, as the baby face already has the win.

Having said that, I could have gone with this result of one spot had been left out; the brainbuster on the steps. If Cole hits it, it should be match over from what it did to KO’R the first time. Once Cole hit that and Kyle kicked out (although I loved the really subtle kickout) I was completely out of the match.

A good 2nd Half and while Adam Cole/Kyle O’Reilly was very good it did go a bit long. I was surprised Santos Escobar won and same for Johnny Gargano retaining. I am wondering if Finn Balor does return to Raw or Smackdown now.

The kickoff match was just a comedy match, and that’s fine. Drain and Maverick remind me so much of Donkey and Shrek (thank you Zack Gibson for pointing that out) and I just can’t help but chuckle when they’re on screen. Breeze really needs to go solo and be normal(ish) as evidenced by his match with Escobar. Fandango desperately needs the fountain of interesting cause I haven’t cared about him since… Have I ever cared about him? C is a good rating I’d say.

KB, I’m unfortunately gonna have to go higher on the Ladder Match because it was so different, yet still showed their athleticism. I’ll go A- for their big spots not being watered down with 1,000 others. Also, seeing a man celebrate with his son just takes it up a notch.

I’ll go C- on the women’s Tag title match. It just wasn’t interesting. Not bad by any means but LeRae and Blackheart pretty obviously carry their teams (India inexperience and Embers lack of motivation) and that’s fine- if it was Blackheart vs LeRae.

It’s simply not fair how great Johnny Gargano is. He simply can’t have a bad match. Reed more than held up his end of things as well. He’s this weird but awesome love child of Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader. I’ll give it a B as well cause Theory interfering made sense, but it was unneeded on Takeover, especially with the interference of the ladder match.

The NXT Title match was a hard hitting battle, but I’m stopping at B because I’d have preferred Balor passing out to the Kross jacket, but maybe I’m nitpicking.

Speaking of nitpicking, I think everyone is nitpicking the main ev my just a tad. Yeah it was long, and the middle dragged quite a bit, but the opening 10 minutes and closing 15 or so we’re awesome. It was an awesome story of Cole going more and more evil every minute and Kyle wanting to keep it a regular fight, but it needed a lot less time and filler spots. Cut the middle 15 where they stopped the story and just did spots, and this goes up. A- for story, but 15+ less would’ve lifted it.

Overall B+ is a good grade as the bookend matches were awesome but had flaws (weird analysis I know), the two singles title matches kinda fell flat, and the women’s Tag simply didn’t need to be there. I’d have moved Dunne/Kushida to Night 2 and had the tag match on night 1. It would e made sense to have the women’s showcase the first night, but again I’m nitpicking.

Overall I’d say B+ for the overall thing. Two nights had me burned a bit, but it’s takeover so by definition it can’t be bad.

KB I hope my mini reviews aren’t annoying lol. I just hope to be a writer and journalist and I’m trying to build up my craft and your community seems to be more of an open forum and not grown men arguing like kindergartners over Legos like I see elsewhere.
