This is short of exhibit A of what is wrong with the WWE shoe-horning in guys like The Rock and Brock Lesner in on major shows, it just causes everything this else to not flow as well. You have a big marquee name so no effort is put into anything else.

What’s sad is that Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow was a better Wrestlemania main event than John Cena vs. The Miz from Wrestlemania 27.

I don’t think WM 11 is that bad of a Show either. Of course it does rank low on the Wrestlemania totem pole but Diesel/HBK,LT/Bigelow,and Owen/Yokozuna winning the Tag Titles helps make it memorable I think. I do like the Backland/JTT bit with Backland saying thats the problem with the youth today.

I really don’t like this show, but I get your point that there’s nothing really insulting or cringe inducing about the show, it just doesn’t feel like a WrestleMania. The worst part for me is the technical bloopers which give a very slipshod feel to the proceedings (even the interviews done at ringside are almost incomprehensible to understand).

One thing that I irrationally really like about this show is the theme they use for the Allied Powers (Luger/Bulldog). It’s super cool and never gets talked about in the great theme song conversation.

The celebrity thing struck me as horribly tacky the first time I watched it, but it really isn’t that bad, just not that interesting. Backlund and JTT’s bit was hilarious. Nick Turturro seems a little out of place, but you’re right in that he seems enthused and pretty smooth in interacting with the wrestlers.

The “I Quit” match is just crummy. I think it’s ruined by Roddy Piper jamming the mic and asking “WHADDYA SAY?” every five seconds. Why would someone quit with the first hold or punch of the match? Also, Backlund screaming “Yes” or whatever counts as “I quit”? Huh? The ending seemed like it was meant to either perpetuate the feud or have Backlund feud with Piper.
