To be honest, I didn’t mind the title matches ending the way they did. I’m all for Charlotte having an extended program with Io Shirai, maybe with Rhea Ripley being involved as well. Truth be told, I prefer it this way because I wasn’t looking all that forward to the notion of Io Shirai, as good as she is, ultimately being just another name on Charlotte’s list. Io’s too much fun for that and a DQ finish works fine for me.

As for Dream vs. Cole, I was a little disappointed because NXT Championship matches usually do have an epic feel to them. Of course, to be fair, most NXT Championship matches not held during house shows happen during TakeOver and they’re not doing TakeOvers right now. Because the match only went a bit beyond 10 minutes, i expected Cole to retain somehow. Cole’s been a great heel champ and I don’t mind him keeping the title for a while, though it does make me wonder where they’re going from here. Does this mean Dream is “main roster” bound? Is Dexter Lumis getting a mega push already? Is he now sort of fixated on Dream since this is the second time he’s interjected himself into Dream’s business?

At any rate, another good show with some interesting developments in both the men’s and women’s title scenes.

I wasn’t entirely surprised that both title match results left the door wide open for rematches. WWE is in a holding pattern so they’re just waiting for the arenas to open up then they’ll blow off these feuds.

I think Dream’s time to be at the open has passed him by. There are far more interesting options at this point. He might be better served by heading to SD or RAW. I’m a huge fan of Kross/Scarlett and thought their debut was done well. Overall though, NXT just seems to kind of exist right now. There is little to get excited about week to week, but it’s still a good enough show.

I was a bit surprised that Dream didn’t win because there is no investigation going into his allegations. A great debut for Karrion Kross & Scarlet. Good to have Rhea Ripley back as well.
