Happy Anniversary With A New Look

It’s kind of way overdue.

Ten years ago today, I launched this site and things have been rolling ever since. With that kind of an anniversary, it was time to freshen things up a bit around here and this is the result. Please note that I’m going to be tinkering with it but since I don’t know what I’m doing, it is taking a bit more time. This is NOT the final product and there is a chance that I’ll scrap the whole thing and switch to something I like better. Even if this goes badly, the old design can be pulled up with one button.

Everything under the hood is exactly the same so the reviews will still be coming up as usual. Hopefully there are some adjustments I can make to see what else can be improved but for now, the look does feel a bit less plain. Just like last time, thank you to AB Morales for designing the banner, as he’s quite good at that kind of thing.

Thank you all for being around for any part of the ten years I’ve been doing this (especially you Jay, and I’m not being sarcastic). I’m still not sure what I did to deserve being able to make this my job but it has worked out far better than I ever would have expected when I put this place up. It started out as a place to store the reviews because I was clogging up WrestleZone too much and now, here we are with this being my full time job. It means more than you can imagine and thank you all for it very much.

One other note that might not be so popular: I might be starting to accept paid posts again. I’m not thrilled with having to do so but the pandemic has hurt the ad revenue a lot and I kind of need the extra help to bridge the gap a bit. I only have so much control over the content of the ads but AT MOST there will be one a week, and I would be stunned if it ever approaches that often. I know they’re annoying and I don’t like doing them, but it’s upwards of a third of a week’s worth of income for something that takes five minutes to do. I’m sorry that I have to do them but it’s kind of a necessity for the time being.

With that out of the way, thank you again for everything and I’ll be here as usual for as long as you want me to be, plus a little longer than that.

Congrats on 10 years! I haven’t watched, with the pandemic going on, but I still check in for reviews of older shows. Here’s to 10 more!

Getting adjusted to the new look, but when the steak is that good, I’m not too concerned over the garnish on the plate. Keep up the great work.

Oh man how bad is this new look? What a cluttered mess.

Congratulations on 10 years KB and the Site looks professional too Great job and heres to more World class qulaty reviews Thank you for the Ask Kb section You’re the only person I can talk to about wrestling these days and you have taiught me so much about wrestling history I can’t thank you enough.

  6. BestSportsEntertainer says:

Congratulations on 10 years, KB. This site is a must read for any wrestling fan. You consistently deliver top notch reviews and commentary. I mean this with all sincerity, there’s no one I respect and look up to more in the online wrestling community.

  7. Danny says:

You are the only reviewer I read these days. I love the match analysis and like that you are always optimistic about the product.

Are you going to continue to compile books to sell on Amazon? I did a wrestling trivia podcast last year and brushing up with your NXT books helped a lot. I have been collecting your books since then.

    • Thomas Hall says:

      Much appreciated.

And probably not for the time being on the books. They just take WAY too long to put together and apparently I’m quite the grouch while editing them.

    Hey KB,
I know it must be a redundant comment as of now, but this is another constant follower of you from your Wrestlezone days.
I remember waiting for your reviews in the forum section and was overjoyed when you started your own site as I could get all your stuff at one place.
I am from India and we have started getting live shows only recently as previously the shows used to air almost a week or two after US. So you were my source for all the live updates.
Additionally, I was overjoyed when you started posting the reviews immediately after the show is over as I did not have to look at other sites and your review acted as an update on the show as well.
When you were going for your first WrestleMania and could not keep lid on your childlike excitement, it felt like some friend of mine is getting to live his dream.
Currently, I only watch the PPVs and highlights of RAW and SmackDown due to time constraints but I am up to date on everything that has happened due to this site.
And just for fun, I don’t watch it but have followed AEW since day 1 through your reviews and it’s almost like if reading a comic on what is happening with different characters. Same with Impact wrestling.
    Keep up the good work.
The best part about you is that you have stayed as an individual contributor and have stuck to your core strength. I have seen it with many sites and YouTube channel when they are good in the beginning but as staff increases and they keep adding on stuff, reviews take a backseat.
Please know there are many like me who you may not know about but you have helped in keeping their wrestling fandom alive.
So, your job may just pay the bills but it is one of the most important ones out there as it helps people remain excited about something they loved and still love. And there is no price tag for that.

Congratulations on the anniversary KB, this is the Harry who bumped into you at the RAW after Mania back in 2017 to let you know how much I appreciated your reviews. Even all these years later it’s still my default setting to check out your site after a big show, and in all honesty, it’s been the one way I’ve been able to keep up with it all when I’ve gone through periods of not watching regularly – even though it’s my job too!

I actually went on to work for WZ from 2017 to 2019. It was a decent enough gig, I’m not sure who the higher-ups were in question for yourself but I definitely had some struggles towards the end, although there had been a lot of turnover since then.

The layout shift hasn’t immediately caught me but I guess we’ll just see how it changes and develops as time goes on. Keep smashing it, mate.

  10. Terry Magowan says:

Congratulations on 10 years! You’ve been a big part of my life as a wrestling fan. My earliest memory is rushing home from a friends after watching wrestlemania 28 to hear your thoughts. I also spent a month or so in hospital in 2014 and reading your reviews certainly helped pass the time so thank you KB!

As for the site, I’m liking it but will definitely take a little getting used to.

  11. Sandy says:

Happy anniversary KB.i have been following your reviews since 2012. Keep the good work continuing. All the best for your future.

  12. Ty Burna says:

Congratulations on 10 years KB. I can’t believe it’s been that long since you got this bad boy started up off WZ. Facelift is looking real clean off the initial look.

I don’t typically watch WWE much at all anymore but I do like to keep up on it and see if anything perks my interest, and reading your reviews has been the way I’ve kept up on that.

As always my dude if you ever need some tech support on the site just let me know and I’d be glad to assist.

  13. Stormy says:

Damn, 10 years. Happy anniversary man. I clicked on my bookmark to the site and I was mad confused thinking I was somewhere else for a second. Seems like yesterday we were all on the Wrestlezone.

Love a bunch of aspects of the new design. It’s wider so there’s more room for the reviews. Reading the reviews when the review text was about 50 characters wide made it feel like a word fort (even though it was just good writing). One thing I’ve noticed the Categories, it’s alphabetical (which is logical) but things like Guest Posts being above RAW & Smackdown feels weird. I’d think current weekly shows would be at the top followed by the PPVs of current companies but that’s just me. I wonder how you decided who’d be on the banner? Seems like an odd mix (I get Foley and Shawn of course).

In all seriousness congrats on all the success and here’s hoping in another few years you can replace that stupid Meltzer guy.

And by all means do whatever you need to do to get the money in. Do paid posts if you have to. Hell I’m surprised you haven’t considered a Patreon yet, that’s what everyone seems to be doing now.

  14. noahconstrictor says:

Man, it’s really been 10 years since you started this? Time flies. No matter what state of in or out of wrestling I’ve been in, I’ve always come here to read your reviews to keep up on what’s going on. KBwrestlingreviews.com has been in my auto-open tabs in Chrome for I don’t know how long. Keep up the great work.

  15. The Killjoy says:

Your success will always make me happy, man. Seeing how it all started and to what it’s become. Seeing how it’s shaped the lives of many and so forth. I think I’ve said it before but getting to work on that banner up there, helped me get into college. Just to show how much it goes. The idea that it’s been 10 years and so 11 years since you started those Wrestlemania reviews is crazy. So much has happened. But this is the constant. After every big show, coming here to read your hindsight. It inspired me to make my own website and it’s led me to where I am today. You’re the standard I look up to. And you will always be. Congratulations.

  16. Justin Lewis says:

I like the new site design, but I’m hoping you can figure out a way to make your reviews and articles printable again. I really would rather not go to Scott Keith’s blog and give him business, if only to just print your reports out there. Long story.

    • Thomas Hall says:

I’ll see what I can do, though out of curiosity (and of course you don’t have to answer this), why do you print them out?

  17. Jack-Hammer says:

I like the facelift. I’ve been posting on wrestling sites for about 11.5 years now and KB’s the best as far as I’m concerned. Listening to KB has helped me discover aspects of pro wrestling I hadn’t considered before and, frankly, helped rekindle my childhood love of it. Keep it up.

  18. Jamarcus316 says:

Love your reviews, KB! But you got me curious, is writing about wrestling what you do for a living? Or just a side gig?

    • Thomas Hall says:

      Much appreciated.

And between this place and writing articles for Wrestlingrumors.net, this is my 100% full time job. I get up, pick up my laptop and I’m at work for the day.

  19. Jerichoholic94 says:

Keep up the good work. Been with you since 2009. I’m a bit more rusty with my coding skills than photoshop these days but if you want I can look into seeing if you can get it spaced out a bit?

    • Thomas Hall says:

I’ll keep tweaking it (it’s just a theme rather than anything I built myself) and if I can’t get it to look more like I want, I might take you up on that. Much appreciated.

  20. Greg says:

Love ya KB. Found you on WrestleZone long ago. Followed you here. Though my interest in wrestling has fallen off (due to bad booking), reading your reviews allows me to know what’s happening and stuff I want to see. Without you, I honestly don’t know if I would even keep up with wrestling anymore. You’re one of the few places I actually turn my Adblocker off for.

I’ll be honest, my first reaction to the design is eh. But it could just be change = bad initial reaction. Does feel a bit squished. I do love the new color though. Going to be much easier on the eyes at night. Where is the Ask KB tab?

Who is the skull woman on the banner? Only one I don’t recognize.

    Does WrestleZone even exist anymore?

    • Thomas Hall says:

      Much appreciated.

And yeah the design is far from perfect. The pages (including Ask KB) have been added on the right.

The woman is Thunder Rosa, from the NWA/AEW.

And it does but I have nothing to do with it anymore. They changed it up and the higher ups didn’t exactly see eye to eye with telling their volunteers the truth about how things were going to go.

      • Greg says:

In order to see stuff like recent comments and ask KB on mobile, I have to scroll all the way to the bottom. Didn’t have to do that before.
