If the end game of all this is a bunch of non-wwe promotions weaving their stories and histories together into a more arcing wrestling universe… that could be really cool actually.

I’m not sure the story works if Omega is going after a company’s title that is worth less than the one he already has. Omega talking about the comics was a little dorky but I get the gist of why he said that.

Impact doesn’t offer much to AEW. They don’t have any stars, aren’t well known anymore and don’t have a unique fanbase that AEW could use. I’m not seeing what AEW gets out of this. Say I’m an AEW fan, why would I care if Omega gets the Impact title? What impact does that have on AEW? What if Omega loses to someone in a smaller promotion?

Maybe they are trying to get Impact to be their developmental show?

Plus they are now asking AEW fans to watch an entirely different company’s show to get the full story. That’s asking fans to do homework, which I’m never a fan of.

I guess you can compare this to the WWE/ECW crossover in the mid-90s. However, WWE was desperate at that time. Sure, it’s cool to look back at now but did people back then care? Looking at the TV rating for Raw, they did a 2.5 on that episode and mostly hovered around that for the rest of the year.
