I’m wondering, did you hate the McIntyre match cause of Corbin and the gimmick?

I thought it was decent and Moss was solid, but when a guy goes through five gimmicks in three years, but is the same exact guy and is limited at best in-ring, it’s hard to get invested

A bit of that but also the segments are such a waste. You have Ricochet and Cesaro messing around on the Kickoff Show but Corbin and Moss are TV regulars? Why? Other than Vince finds them funny, why?

      • Caleb John Undahl says:

That’s the issue is there’s zero reason aside from that. Drew is talented, but he gets something decent every once in a blue moon, and now running the injury angle only makes for longer he’s toiling in the comedy portion of cards. I get the idea behind the sword, I understand the story of it, but let the man wrestle. Let me kick people. Let him have good matches. Instead though, Vince would rather have him feud with the comic relief. He could’ve been good in the gauntlet on Christmas Eve, but instead he’s dumping eggnog on the guys who’s literal gimmick is being terrible. The fact that they had to fill it with tag teams and Jinder Mahal is pretty much why they can never get traction in the mid card. Oh, but forget our midcard champion- here’s some stupid comedy

As soon as Brock was added to the match, I asked myself what the original finish was. That’s because we all know he was winning. Why would they run that booking when the Smackdown angle with Roman / Heyman is probably the hottest thing people want to see IN GENERAL at the moment. I liked that we got something going with Lashley and Lesnar for once but even still I somewhat can’t wait to see what Jim Cornette says about this booking.

    • Greg says:

I think they are going to have the Brock/Roman story continue at the Rumble and get the title off Lesnar. Basically a gift Lashley/Brock match that fell into their lap and Roman can interfere to ensure everyone stays strong.

Reigns/Lesnar title unification match at Mania???

So was Big E slated to lose the WWE Championship anyways in this match, and they just made it Lesnar with the last second change? If so, I wonder who got bumped?

    • Thomas Hall says:

I’ve been wondering that too. I’m guessing Big E. wins here and drops it next time, probably to Lashley.

Really surprised they had Lesner win the title while he’s in the middle of a feud with the champion of the other brand. I know they needed to switch it up last minute but it was a different way to go. The positive of it is that hopefully we get Lashley taking the belt from him in the long awaited showdown. Love your reviews brother, been a long time reader and I really enjoy going back and reading the older shows and events. Appreciate all of your work on the site.

So I’ve been wondering for a while KB, I’ve noticed your ratings vary. Like a B is a classic match in some cases and in others it’s just solid. I’m interested to know the thought process behind your grades. I like the style, just a little confusing. Ive read all of your reviews for the big companies (WWE, WCW, AEW) and I even created a Best of list based on your reviews. Just curious as how your scale works. Again though, I like that it’s not completely linear

    • Thomas Hall says:

This might be disappointing but I really don’t have much of a criteria. It’s more a feeling of “eh….that was ok, C+.”

Also, I’m going to expect more from a big match with better wrestlers involved. In other words, if Tony D’Angelo and Malik Blade have the best match they can in six minutes on NXT, I’m going to be a lot more lenient on it than say Edge vs. Miz getting about twenty minutes here, because they’re better, more experienced and the match was set up as a more important deal.

And yeah, it’s not linear or exactly scientific because it can’t be. There are so many factors that go into a match that trying to have some kind of a definitive, concrete scale would be impossible (plus ridiculous).

I know that was a bunch of rambling but so much of it is from the feeling I got from the match rather than anything formula or science based.
