The only problem I had was the usos winning as I thought we may have seen the 1st cracks in the bloodline but instead they look stronger then ever and unless you do heel vs heel with the Viking Raders theres no one left to challenge them Profits winning would have made more sense IMO.

I think it’s better to keep titles on them for bloodline but this is really a shallow roster problem. Maybe trip will bring in or form some more face tag teams?

    • Sebastian says:

Another problem is if profits won and then faced raiders and lost they’d look like jokes/total trainstional champions.

Well they are breaking up anyway, so what would it matter if their last run was as a transitional champion

“The other problem here is simple: who in the world is supposed to be able to stop Reigns? Drew McIntyre is the next big challenger, but is that their solution? McIntyre has already had his time and while you can’t really gauge things from the pandemic, I don’t know how much of a success it was.”

Reigns was champion on sd at the same time so if you’re going to being up low pandemic ratings the same finger could be pointed at roman
Drew is their most built Babyface and he’s over so yeah id be fine with him taking the title from roman just to finally get it off Roman and have some fresh challengers. I don’t know if it’s going to happen though because rumor is rock roman for title at wm but Jesus Christ Roman as champ has no one left.

“This is going to be the really divisive match of the night and that isn’t a surprise. They did a lot of stuff and the match was a total spectacle, but they lost me at the end with Reigns knocking him down for nine over and over.”

I thought the violence level was pretty good here but I do think they should’ve at least switched up what roman was using to keep Lesnar down. Him hitting him with the title over and over again was kind of boring, it would’ve been cool to see him pull out a chair or some kind of other weapon to really put Lesnar down.

With the Usos/profits match I didn’t really think profits were going to win anyway and am just glad the feuds actually over. Keeping the titles on Usos is just a good idea with the bloodline thing still going, I don’t think people would have a problem with this if the roster wasn’t so shallow and the only tag teams I can think of to challenge Usos are heels (vikings and Chad and Otis).

On rousey/liv I actually liked it, liv just hasn’t been built up well enough for me to buy her beating Rhonda clean. She needs more high profile victories as most of her career has been stuck in jobber/midcard territory and I just don’t buy her beating Rhonda completely clean. Rhonda is the women’s Lesnar while Liv has almost never beaten someone of note before so the idea of her surviving Rhonda and then winning because of luck a d presveration makes sense. I think we can start building Liv more now that she’s done with Rhonda.

I thought this was a great show and best SummerSlam in forever. The card was looking pretty weak but I think the matches ended up holding up. The main thing I didn’t like was Rollins riddle getting cancelled but at least the angle seems interesting. I also liked how final everything felt. Bianca/Becky had a definitive finish and Becky turned face, street profits/Usos had a decent finish where street profits couldn’t capitalize because of hurt ribs and then got pissy and it cost them the match and USos won definitively instead of all this back and forth shit every match seems to end on today. Lesnar/Roman also feels like it’s finished for good and I liked drews promo which kind of felt like an admission from trip saying he knows you’re tired of seeing the same old shit. I’m still very optimistic for wwe rn since trip took over as smackdown and SummerSlam have both been pretty good. The main problem they havs though is there terribly shallow roster, like 90% of that roster is gone and it’s hard to hire any one on the independents because tony Khan will just throw money at them and the only serious challenger left for Roman is drew rn. Maybe when Orton comes back up you could do Orton Lesnar but I don’t buy for a second randy would win. As for Lesnar/Roman I actually really liked it just because it felt different, they actually covered Lesnar’s weaknesses in terms of just doing Germans by doing a bunch of gimmicky forklift shit and it worked. Match was also pretty violent following the theme of what we saw on sd between drew Sheamus.

The word fun comes to mind with this PLE. Matches weren’t amazing, but fun, especially the main event. Surprising returns, couple heel/face turns (and some future hints). Good stuff

  9. David says:

My beef with this ppv is not the matches themselves. Most were entertaining. The problem is the finishes. I predicted every winner and there was not a title change. Lesnar could have drove a tank out there but everyone still knew he was going to lose.

    • Sebastian says:

That’s fair but we’ve pretty much known Roman was going to win every title match for the last like year and a half.
