I don’t watch much of WWE, last thing I saw was Wrestlemania (which is in very strong contention for the worst “wrestling” ppv in history) but eum… why are Randy and Edge still fighting? After nearly killing each other across the building for about an hour, where do you go from there? I don’t see how you could possibly follow a match like that.

Greatest match ever hype aside, have to give Edge major props for that performance which unfortunately was severely overlooked. To do that after such a long layoff with a at then career ending injury while also getting injured in this match. That’s a hell of an achievement and I hope this match is remembered for it.

Backlash was a pretty good Show, it may not have been the Greatest Match Ever but they certainly delivered an excellent outing. It sucks that Edge tore his tricep and we won’t see him again until next year. I really enjoyed Mcintyre/Lashley alot as well and the rest was solid.

As far as the Cinematic stuff to me they’re trying to do something different instead of them trading wins back & forth. I got some good laughs out of it.

Viking Raiders and Street Profits have been amazing and continued to be tonight. Yes they need to have a wrestling match soon but that is the end of the feud. If it is working why stop? Hell this was the best of the lot so far.

      How exactly is this working?

      • Stormy says:

        They produced fun, entertaining television.

        • Thomas Hall says:

I thought they were supposed to produce wrestling.

          • Stormy says:

I’m surprised you’d think that. WWE doesn’t produce just wrestling. They produce SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT.

Yes that does involve wrestling, but they compare it to a circus for a reason. There’s something for everyone. You don’t want to see the wacky but fun fight with the tag teams, then here watch the 40 minute classic wrestling match. Or a handicap match for a singles title.

If you want to compare it to film, Edge/Orton was a Martin Scorsese film, and Viking Raiders/Street Profits were a comedy. They both have their merits, and their audiences, but it is apples and oranges.

I didn’t see how this was any less of a wrestling event than the Boneyard match, Firely Funhouse, or Money in the Bank 2020, all of which received good reviews.

Not sticking up for KB, but I think this website more than backs up what he is saying. He has had to review worse stuff than this and knows wrestling.
The Boneyard and the firefly fun house all told a story. Styles got too cocky and thought he could bury Undertaker. Styles even had Taker on the ropes gasping for air, but Taker for that match came out with three personas and triumphed for his last ride(we don’t know yet).
The fun house, while not a match also told a story. It was the redemption of Bray. Enough said
This match tonight between the profits and Vikings was not even introduced as cinematic
Look I get it, I really do. The younger audience is different from when I grew up. How many cartwheels and splashes can one look at before it gets redundant.
I’m all for adding more personality and giving the wrestlers a chance to experiment verbally. Look at Otis for example
This segment or match or whatever was basically just wwe giving fans that don’t watch raw a chance to see clips of these segments again even though they probably already watched it on YouTube
I can probably guarantee that Gargano or even Kenny omega would have been one of the ninjas
Let marvel and Dc do the mashups. That’s what they are good at
Maybe this was footage for wwe to use to convince Disney to buy

          • Mikea says:

And to think the raiders and profits were in tag team classics in nxt
It’s not their fault on the main roster. The creative team put them in 8 man purgatory for what it felt like 8 months.
Yeah they were in the Main event but And unless it can tell a great story too much of something can make what was once special turn into meh

If you want to see cinematic. Go see taker hbk wm 25 and 26 and hhh taker wm 27 and 28. Know that’s good wrestling cinema

          • Thomas Hall says:

I don’t mind the segments every now and then. Six weeks in a row of them with the titles not being mentioned for the most part and a Star Wars/Avengers homage instead? No.
